da pinup bet: The FC Dallas star can't stop scoring as the Stars and Stripes booked their spot in the quarter-finals
da poker: Group A, as expected, turned out to be a shootout between the United States men's national team and Jamaica. With the U.S. on one coast running up the score against Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica were on the other doing the same against St. Kitts & Nevis. Both knew topping this Gold Cup group would come down to who could light it up most. It was to be expected.
What many didn't expect, though, was Jesus Ferreira to do this. We probably should have, to be fair. They call him the 'Pirate of the Caribbean' now for a reason and, in Sunday night's group-stage finale, Ferreira was a nightmare once again for a Caribbean team.
The FC Dallas star scored three of the USMNT's six goals, giving him his second consecutive hat-trick in this tournament. He was joined on the scoresheet by Cade Cowell, Gianluca Busio and Brandon Vazquez as the U.S. ran away 6-0 winners to finish atop the group.
It was a dominant win, as expected. This isn't Couva 2017, not by a longshot. The U.S. was essentially perfect as they ensured a more favorable road through the knockout stages. They'll head into their quarter-final next Sunday feeling unstoppable, thanks mainly to Ferreira, as the U.S. can now, finally, look ahead to the next step.
GOAL rates the USMNT's players from Bank of America Stadium…
GettyGoalkeeper & Defense
Matt Turner (6/10):.
Was hardly tested but made one good save. Passing was fine, too.
DeJuan Jones (7/10):
Set up the first goal by teeing up Ferreira. Overall, another good performance from Jones, who will probably stay the starter for the knockout rounds.
Jalen Neal (7/10):
Earned a yellow card, which is a mild concern considering one in the next game would see him suspended for the semis. Other than that, another composed performance from the teenager.
Miles Robinson (6/10):
Essentially a 45-minute rehab stint as he looks to recover from injury. The good news is that he looked good, which means he should be 100 percent for the knockouts given the week in between games.
Bryan Reynolds (7/10):
Super active as he routinely pushed forward. Was great on the ball and had a few good tackles. Another standout performance.

Djordje Mihailovic (8/10):
An absolute baller. Will be frustrated not to have provided a goal or assist, but it felt like he deserved one. He won the penalty and was fantastic on the ball. A standout game.
James Sands (7/10):
A typical performance. Moved the ball well, put out some fires and, overall, wasn't wildly noticeable, which is exactly what he's there to do.
Gianluca Busio (8/10):
Got his goal in the end, although he probably could have had a few! Looked a little off on his first few chances but made no mistake to score his first for the USMNT.

Cristian Roldan (6/10):
Flubbed a chance to score his first USMNT goal and, looking back at it, he'll know he should have scored. Provided some decent minutes, as you'd expect from the World Cup veteran.
Jesus Ferreira (10/10):
Criticize him all you want, but what more can you ask of him? The tongue-in-cheek 'Pirate of the Caribbean' nickname held true here, but you can only score against the team in front of you. And Ferreira, once again, scored three on Sunday. Let's celebrate him for that.
Alejandro Zendejas (6/10):
Another game where it just didn't click, for whatever reason. Zendejas' timing just seems off as he's nowhere near as dynamic as the player we saw breaking through earlier this year.
GettySubs & Manager
Matt Miazga (6/10):
Replaced Robinson in defense after the first half. Didn't have too much to do, which is unfortunate for him as it feels like he's the third center-back here.
Cade Cowell (9/10):
Definition of a super-sub. Came on and was absolutely fantastic, scoring a dazzling goal to make it 4-0. Nearly scored another one, only to see it hit the post before teeing up Vazquez for the final finish. A heck of a performance from the young winger.
Julian Gressel (7/10):
The set-piece specialist. Nearly got an assist on a Miazga header and then got it on Busio's finish. You know what you get with Gressel, whose crossing ability is unmatched.
Brandon Vazquez (7/10):
Came on as the U.S. looked at a two-striker set. Was a bit too passive, but got his goal in the end. Unfortunately, he was once again overshadowed by Ferreira, who is probably the locked-in starter for the knockouts.
DeAndre Yedlin (N/A):
Replaced Reynolds late with the game long decided.
B.J. Callaghan (9/10):
Got it right once again. Made the right call to start Ferreira and, when the wingers were sputtering, he replaced them. Onto the knockouts.
