Loads of Celtic fans have been reacting to some comments by Brendan Rodgers, as the boss gave his full support to the much-maligned Jack Hendry.

Celtic were extremely light in the centre back department during the summer transfer window, and they’re now right back where they started as loan signing Filip Benkovic will miss another game with an achilles injury.

The young Leicester loanee pulled up with an injury before this week’s League Cup clash against St Johnstone, but Rodgers is hopeful he will return to training next week.

Kristoffer Ajer meanwhile is also out, which means Rodgers will be forced to play Hendry again when they welcome Aberdeen on Saturday.

The 23 year-old has taken loads of stick from fans since his move from Dundee, but Rodgers seems confident he will continue to improve.

“Jack has come into a huge club and seen the demands. He never shirks from it,” the boss said.

“He’s had some challenging games but he always puts himself out there. A great attitude and I’m looking forward to seeing him develop over the next few years.”

Fans are split on the comments, as the young defender did show some promising signs in the win over St Johnstone.

He had an awful start to the season before that though, and plenty are still convinced he is simply not good enough.
